Treblinka, located on the eastern edge of the Mazovia region, used to be the second biggest Nazi death camp in Poland, where nearly 1 mln of people were killed in gas chambers. It is located far from any towns in the middle of the forest in order to make it impossible to discover the location of the camp. It is believed to be the most cruel of Nazi death camps, a death factory, where people were brought only for dying. The camp was shut down by the Nazis in 1943. They burned down the buildings so that no evidence could be discovered. Today there is a memorial and museum. It gives you space for silence, reflexion and thoughts.
